Mountain climates punish poor installs
Western North Carolina swings from humid summers to hard mountain freezes. That cycle finds every gap in a window install — and the resulting drafts and condensation cost far more than the glass package ever did.
Framing and flashing come first
We square and shim the opening, correct rot or racked framing, then flash the sill and jambs so water always has a path back out. Insulated doors get the same treatment: a plumb frame is why a door still latches cleanly three winters later.
Pick the right unit for the wall
Low-E double glazing with warm-edge spacers handles most Western NC exposures. Where a wall takes hard afternoon sun, a lower solar-heat-gain unit keeps rooms comfortable without turning the space dark.
